2023 Colluvial "Mod's Cuvée" Rio Vista Vineyard Pinot Noir
A blend of multiple blocks from the Rio Vista Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, only 2 barrels. Two heritage clonal selections, Pommard & Calera, which were co-fermented as an experiment thinking about my youngest daughter, Mari or "Mods" her preferred nickname. The wine delivers some savory "spicy" notes wrapped around red-purple flowers on the nose. The palate is filled with some dark berry fruits, mineral undertones and that spicy almost "piney" note from its stem inclusion during fermentation.
